Bravo!! Bravo!!. +1 in my good book dear SRK.

Though I am not great fan of SRK cinema (this is the mildest I could mince my words to conceal my irritation of SRK-KJo types cinema). But on scale of a prominent citizen and gentlemen, He indeed make me one. While our beloved Millennium star (Do I need to name him) is  praising vicious Bal Thackrey (Balls Talk Re! ) for the power he exercises at his fragile age, SRK has shown ample guts not to bow before the Mumbai Manoos (Mumbai’s Manhoos to precisely put).

Btw A thought just passed my mind.  Has Bal Thackrey ( Balls Talk Re!) become Rakhi Sawant of Indian Politics with his disgusting appetite of being in news by cheap means? Well Left on the discretion of readers.

Back to SRK, It would be interesting to see the climax of the standoff between Mr. Thackrey and SRK. But one thing be sure Mr. SRK,  you are not going to be deprived of another mega hit whatever be the case. We are all eager to see our dream girl Kajol back in the business and she is sizzling as never before. I get goose bumps just to see her over and over.

A cheap Beauty that ain't "Cheap"

I have been religiously surfing net for 2 months for this tablet since I first heard the news that HP is upgrading TX2 with Intel Processor and metal chasis. God! my patience is wearing out for this gadget and I am getting enticed forcefully to look to other alternatives which are double the cost of HP one.

The story started with this tech fair in Singapore where I went to buy a laptop with Indira and Kirti ; my colleagues and my friends. While I was browsing through various tempting offers by Lenova, HP, Dell etc, not to mention my beloved Apple’s macbook which literally wooed me  with its offer of no payment at all with 1 year contract which appeared to me veryyy reasonable. However later I realised that the offer was good for Singapore residents since it required a telephone connection.

However despite so many lucrative offers and deals, I,as usual, got stoned to see so many choices.  I have never been good when I am thrown into choices. I get numb with choices.  So I quit the idea of buying one. We engaged ourselves in looking for hard disks for Kirti and Indira as we roamed around various stalls put up by tech giants. So I was passing by this one tiny secluded HP stall , when I saw it and fell in love instantly.

Kirti who saw the gleam of my eyes, reacted -”Tum khariddari kaha karte ho! Tum to ishq karte ho bhai.” (You don’t shop dude! You romance.)

Well Said!! I am an emotional buyer. The moment I saw TX2, I wanted it.  Even though I could see one big fat loop hole in form of AMD processor which has habit of getting extremely hot and noisy. So unless you wann fry eggs on yoyr thighs, you wouldn’t go for AMD. However as the old saying goes -”love is blind and Infatuation is two step ahead. It does not have any senses whatsoever”. So Instantly I decided to buy the tablet but as luck would have it, for mysterious reasons, they wouldn’t accept Cash. The only mode of payment which they would accept was via Credit Card. This amused me since it was the first instance when somebody refused cash payment. None of us had a credit card then.  Kirti consoled me -”Jo hota hai acche ke liye hota hai .” (Everything that happens, happens for a reason). I wasn’t convinced though. I returned home with heavy heart.

Anyways, soon after this tech fair, HP announced the upgraded version of HP TX2 with metal chasis and Intel Processor and they announced to launch this killer gadget named HP Touch-smart TM2,on 17 January. That was 6th of January and Since then I have been religiously surfing everyday to check if it has hit stupid Singaporean retail shops already. For God knows reasons, HP Singapore isn’t much convinced with this tablet since they haven’t shown least amount of interest in it. HP Europe and HP America have started selling it via their online store but not HP Singapore.  Godd!! I wannn sue HP Singapore! Any HP Singapore Employee reading this blog?

And those who have already have it (in Singapore), please suggest if there is any way of buying this tablet except Ebay since I am not really comfortable with Ebay shopping.

Most Indian love to call Mumbai- “Bombay” and these are common folklore far away from the political sensitivity of the issue. Mumbai sounds less appealing to me and the rest of the country. However nobody flinched when our beloved “Bombay” became Mumbai. Who cares!

Now it seems our beloved Bombay is Bala Thackrey’s personal property where only Marathi’s are allowed to enter and stay. Its amazing to even think that this man is openly dictating Mumbai at his terms and dictating the most dangerous idea that has been thrust upon our democracy.” Mumbai for Marathi”. Lick my ass Mr. Bal Thackrey.

Well! I have no idea how furious I am with this happening in my beloved country.   As citizen of this great  nation which is on verge of discovering its lost potential again, we must stand united against these selfish elements.

I hope we see India wide united stand on the  Mumbai issue.

A night view of Marine Drive Mumbai

See! It has nothing to do with my childhood fancy for Marine drive as everyday much to my peers wonder I spend my nights in Mumbai sitting alone on the ‘queen’s necklace’ on Marine Drive.  Its fabulous, soothing and relaxing from all your mundane hectic life in Mumbai to sit on the cemented wall facing the shore , listening to roar of waves which despite being nothing but a noise seems musical. Adding to that for those who want spices in the curry, you can see lovers trying to get some physical pleasure open on the road, coiled up in each other with hands on bizarre angles, looking deep one may easily figure out the lustious intensions of getting some constrained physical pleasure. Ok! I really am not interested in launching scathing linguistic attack on much pityworthy couples deprived of spacious luxury of privacy [:P] as I would be more specific about rather innocent beauty you can find at Marine Drive.

One of the best examples of beautifully curvaceous western cost, Marine drive offers a scenic beauty of Mumbai Cosmopolitan with shimmering sky touching tall buildings. A view of dimly lit hotel Taj, fast running cars on Marine Drive road, jogging people including people from every walk of the life at the its prominade , wandering petty ‘Mungfali wala’s (groundnut seller), nervous love birds sitting for a darker place in search of some privacy, lurking labour class for a nap on the cemented platform. Everything is so special about Marine Drive.

Looped between Nariman point, the manhattan of India and Malabar Hills, Marine Drive is the busiest road in Mumbai.

Must watch for not only newcomers but Mumbaikars who normally dont have time out of their hectic lives to sit, breathe and relax on one of the most beautiful conglomeration of civil and natural beauty.

Anyways my lethal affinity towards catching cough and cold in slighlty changing altitude and climate din’t let me enjoy my first trip in much fancied Shatabdi Express of my childhood.

So I was talking about our trip to Haji Ali. It will be quite safe to say that it wasn’t any secular drive or religious sentiments which led us to visit the holy shrine, rather was an inner urge to  give some momentum to our otherwise dull life so far in the office and in the lodge. I wasn’t much convinced about going out in sunlight in my terrible state of cough and cold, nor was Vineet , but still I decided otherwise. So first we had to go through the plain trauma of Mumbai Local which we are not used to yet. When the Mahalaxmi station neared and the train was still in motion at the station, one rough looking guy in his mid 40′s, pushed me. I looked back at him annoyed and complained about pushing. It wasn’t a normally crowded train and there was enough time for everyone to get down easily. But when I complained, he denied of pushing me and one sharp voice came from other side -” Ab local me dhakka nahi khayega to kaha khayega?” ” If you don’t experience in Mumbai local, where would you?”

My Haryanvi blood seemed to hotten-up but my Rajasthani wisdom decided in favour of peaceful solution of avoiding the comment.

We arranged a taxi which stopped just in front of the holy shrine which against my expectations, was a rather smaller place. Before it slips out of my mind, my praise for Mumbai Taxiwalas. 17 rupees in taxi, In chennai anything below 100 bucks in taxi was out of equation no matter what!

Shrine was a cliff extending in the sea to a fancy distance and led to a  mosque in the middle of the sea. What always amazed me at these religious place was their natural beauty and tranquility of the place. May be the ‘wise of religions’ were really wise enough to sense that religious sentiments and faith won’t be sufficient enough to bind people, natural tranquility and beauty will, where they can really realize peace and divinity which is natural to such places, be an added and necessary requirements. Haji Ali Shrine was no exception, with beautiful sea and soothing breeze always making it a nice experience for followers no matter what community they belong to?

The number of Hindu visitors in the shrine again reminded me of the ages old secular mindset of Hindus which is being tarnished by some extremist group who considers themselves the contractor of Hindu religion. I really doubt if they know Hinduism at all which they clain to patronize. For ages hindus have accepted the inflow of dozens of different clans, communities, faith and nationality with unprtecedented harmony. The much complanied ‘lack of aggression or lack of patriotism can be attributed to this secular Hinduism which could never agitate itself in history on the question of racial divide or communal differences. Whoever is willing to mingle in this great culture was bossomed. If only we could revisit our history, Hindu ideologies, we can find a convincing record of great Hindu religious tolerance since ever. Do we need one more Vivekanand in the times of VHP and Shiv Senas to remind so called Hindu patrons about our great heritage which has prospered like no other culture did, purely attributed to our varied culture and faiths and our willingness to accept anyone who wants to live with harmony. While my mind was dwelling on the lines of Hinduistic tolerance, it also supplied me thoughts about Muslim religious tolerance as well and no matter how secular I might be, it still makes me sad that I dont find such culture and heritage of religious tolerance in our Muslim fraternity. I am not accusing of them anything but only if I could find one example (what surprises me even more, even politics dont seem to give me a single example of this) of a Muslim visiting Hindu shrines ever. I never depended on my much biasssed father’s thoughts about socio-politics but this one arguement of him make me think a lot. Not a single example I ever witnessed. Is someone listening and site me an example. I will be lot relaxed to hear one incident. The other day when we were sitting in our favourite restaurent which is run by a Muslim family, we encountered similar weird experience of intolerance. Avik put down his tumbler on the plate and one stern voice from behind( which definitely lacked any trace of moisture and humbility which you would ,otherwise , so commonly experience in hospitality industry) strongly advised him otherwise. Sissy Avik immediately complied with a meek apology.

I can never justify any communal violence or racial abuse based on any logic whatsoever being a ‘Gandhivadi’ myself but only if we could educate our people more about religious tolerance, we can go distances in curbing the poisoning of communities by their leaders which subsequently lead to violence which our history is so rich to site examples of. This country needs another Gandhi.
